Big Week from August 27 - September 4, 2022 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
"Amazement and celebration" - Hababa is in a class of her own in the 149th Renate and Albrecht Woeste Future Race - Fährhof mare now on course for Paris?
Baden-Baden/Iffezheim, August 31, 2022 (MH). "Marvel and celebrate," was the motto of race commentator Marvin Schridde on the final meters of the 149th Renate und Albrecht Woeste Zukunfts-Rennen (Group III, 55,000, 1,400 m) on Wednesday, the third day of the Great Week at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim. And the 4,950 spectators were more than impressed by Stiftung Gestüt Fährhofs Habana, the impressive winner of the top race for two-year-old horses sponsored by the Honorary President of the German Gallop Association and his wife. The Kingman daughter, who is also bred by the Jacobs family's Sottrum stud, not only defended her clean slate after her confident debut victory, she also dominated her seven rivals in a style that is rarely seen.
Ridden with a lot of confidence
Eduardo Pedroza (48), stable jockey of the successful coach Andreas Wöhler, who is based in Spexard near Gütersloh, obviously knew exactly what kind of horse was entrusted to him, because he waited in last place for the course of events to take its course and only came on the scene in the final phase. Habana simply left the competition standing, effortlessly. The two-length margin of the verdict does not even come close to illustrating the superiority that the 2.6:1 favorite displayed. All doors are now open to her for a great career after the first group win was probably just a stopover.
See Paris, the winner of the Cologne auction race, took second place but had to let his rival pass. The French guest Ghrainne, who led for a long time, also ran well in third place, while Evina was unable to improve in fourth ahead of Bottle Of Bubbles, Sarasto, Winning Spirit and Empathie.
VOICES:
Dr. Andreas Jacobs (owner and breeder of Habana): "It's been a long time since we won such a nice race. It reminds me of the great years here in Baden-Baden. I am grateful to the spectators for their empathy, a great moment."
Simon Stokes (Racing Manager of Habana): "I am speechless. Habana was with me over the winter before she joined the stable this year. She reminds me of Royal Dubai and Lavirco, who were also great two-year-olds for us. The trainer was always impressed by her. She behaved like a professional. She is now entered for the Preis der Winterkönigin here and the Prix Marcel Boussac on Arc Day in Paris."
Andreas Wöhler (Habana's trainer): "Habana is something very special. Eddie rode her with a lot of confidence. She was able to switch off on the way and then accelerate superbly."
Eduardo Pedroza (jockey of Habana): "I already had a good feeling with her at home and rode sieheute with some guts. She had shown us in training that she would be good enough for a race like this."
Holger Faust (Racing Manager of See Paris): "That was a very good performance. We are now heading for the prize of the winter favorite, where we will not meet Habana."
Michael Cadeddu (jockey of See Paris): "He ran strongly, especially as it was only his second start. I would have liked to win, but the mare was superior in front."
Alexis Pouchin (jockey of Ghrainne): "I am very happy with her performance. There was nothing to order against the winner."
