Big week from 27 August-04 September 2022 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
"Astonish and celebrate" - Hababa is in a class of her own in the 149th Renate and Albrecht Woeste Future Race - Fährhof mare now on course for Paris?
Baden-Baden/Iffezheim, August 31, 2022 (MH). "Marvel and celebrate," was the motto given by race commentator Marvin Schridde during the final meters of the 149th Renate and Albrecht Woeste Future Race (Group III,55,000, 1,400 m) on Wednesday, the third day of the Great Week at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim. And the 4,950 spectators were more than impressed by Stiftung Gestüt Fährhofs Habana, the impressive winner of the top race for two-year-old horses sponsored by the Honorary President of the Dachverband Deutscher Galopp and his wife. For the Kingman daughter, also bred by the Jacobs family's Sottrum stud, not only defended her clean slate after her commanding debut victory, she also dominated her seven competitors in a style rarely seen.
Ridden with much confidence
Eduardo Pedroza (48), stable jockey of the successful coach Andreas Wöhler based in Spexard near Gütersloh, obviously knew exactly what kind of horse was entrusted to him, because he waited in last place for things to take their course and only came on the scene in the final phase. Completely effortlessly, Habana simply left the competition standing. The two-length advantage of the judge's decision does not even begin to illustrate the superiority that the 2.6:1 favorite displayed. All doors are now open to her for a great career, after the first Group win was probably only a stopover.
See Paris, the winner of the Cologne auction race, took second place, but he had to let the competitor pass. The long leading French guest Ghrainne also ran well in third place, while Evina was unable to improve in fourth place ahead of Bottle Of Bubbles, Sarasto, Winning Spirit and Empathy.
VOTES:
Dr. Andreas Jacobs (owner and breeder of Habana): "It's been a long time since we won such a nice race. It reminds me of the great years here in Baden-Baden. I am grateful to the spectators for their empathy, a great moment."
Simon Stokes (Habana's Racing Manager): "I am speechless. Habana was with me over the winter before she came to the racing stable this year. She reminds me of Royal Dubai and Lavirco, who have also been great two-year-olds for us. The trainer was always impressed with her. She behaved like a professional. Named now for the Prize of the Winter Queen here and the Prix Marcel Boussac on Arc Day in Paris."
Andreas Wöhler (trainer of Habana): "Habana is already something very special. Eddie rode her with a lot of confidence. She could switch off on the way and then accelerate great."
Eduardo Pedroza (Habana's jockey): "I already had a good feeling with her at home and rode seeute with some guts. That she would be good enough for such a race, she had shown us in training."
Holger Faust (Racing Manager of See Paris): "That was a very good performance. We are now heading for the winter favorite's prize, where we will not meet Habana."
Michael Cadeddu (jockey of See Paris): "He ran strongly, especially since it was only his second start. I would have liked to win, but the mare was superior in front."
Alexis Pouchin (jockey of Ghrainne): "I am very happy with her performance. There was nothing to order against the winner."
