Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, September 05, 2025 (MH) - Showdown on the final Sunday of the 2025 Grand Prix Week at Baden-Baden-Iffezheim racecourse. With the WETTSTAR.de - 155th Grand Prix of Baden (Group I, 300,000 euros, 2,400 m), the absolute highlight of the season at Germany's premium hippodrome is just around the corner. Once again sponsored by Germany's most important horse betting broker, this top competition has long been regarded as a first-class springboard for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris-Longchamp on the first Sunday in October. With Danedream 2011 and Torquator Tasso 2021, two of the German Arc-Arc winners are also on the list of winners of the Grand Prix in Iffezheim. Fantastic Moon won a year ago.

A very strong line-up will do the honors in 2025. Owned by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin stable, Rebel's Romance (with star jockey William Buick) recently won the Westminster Grosser Preis von Berlin for the second time and has become a superstar on various continents. He has 11.7 million euros in his account. This is his first appearance in Baden-Baden.
Goliath (C. Lecoeuvre) is none other than last year's King George winner, with whom French trainer Francis Henri Graffard is now hoping to hit the bull's eye again at the highest level. Dubai Honour (T. Marquand) from England returns to Iffezheim after taking the honors in 2024.
Derby winner Hochkönig challenges the international aces
The appearance of Hochkönig is of course a special attraction. His rider Nina Baltromei, a trainee at Yasmin Almenräder's stables in Mülheim, was the first woman to win the German Derby in a racing saddle. Now the eagerly awaited first appearance since the triumph in the IDEE 155th German Derby in Hamburg awaits.
But other aces are also in the field, such as the Sauren Dachfonds Prize winner Alleno (R. Piechulek) from Ittlingen Stud, the former Brazilian Derby winner Cold Heart (A. de Vries) or Gestüt Park Wiedingen's Derby fourth Path of Soldier (A. Starke).
Class winner in the 92nd Brunner - Oettingen race
But that is by no means all. With the 92nd Brunner - Oettingen-Rennen (Group II, 70,000 euros, 1,600 m), Baden Galopp is presenting another group race thanks to the support of the furniture company from Rheinau. Penalty (T. Hammer-Hansen), owned by Eckhard Sauren, is aiming to defend his title. However, it will not be easy to beat Geography (A. Starke), who recently won the Fritz Henkel Prize in Düsseldorf, as well as strong guests from England and France.
Festive day for the weather
The final program on Sunday comprises ten races, including a level I (25,000 euros, 2,200 m). The first start will be at 11:15 a.m., as several races will also be broadcast to France. As this is a Premium Raceday, all classes are endowed with at least 15,000 euros.
Betting highlights in abundance
Sunday is once again a day of celebration for the bettors. The four-horse bet will be offered three times. 30,000 euros (incl. jackpot of 10,175.21 euros) are guaranteed as a payout in the 5th race (level III, 1,600 m), 10,000 euros are offered in the 3rd race (level I, 2,200 m) and in the 10th race (level IV, 1,800 m). In the V4 betting, a total of 30,000 euros (including a jackpot of 9,481.88 euros) is up for grabs in races 7 to 10.
