Baden-Baden, August 2025 - Even before the traditional race for the "Golden Whip" starts on August 31, 2025 at the Iffezheim racecourse on Casino Baden-Baden's patronage day, the iconic trophy will be making its first major appearance:
On August 18, 2025, Stephan Buchner (Managing Director of Baden Galopp) ceremoniously presented it to Tobias Wald (Managing Director of Baden-Württembergische Spielbanken GmbH & Co. KG) and Daniel Gerber (Branch Manager Baden-Baden, Juwelier Leicht) at the Baden-Baden Casino.
With this highly symbolic handover, Casino Baden-Baden is underlining its role as a long-standing sponsor of the prestigious race and as a reliable partner of Baden Galopp. "The Golden Whip stands for top sporting performance, master craftsmanship and cultural tradition - values that our hotel has always embodied," emphasizes Tobias Wald. "The close and trusting cooperation with Baden Galopp is particularly important to us - we are proud to help shape and promote one of the most important events in European horse racing together."
The connection between Casino Baden-Baden and horse racing is deeply rooted in the history of both institutions: as early as 1858, Eduard Bénazet, then a casino tenant, had the racecourse in Iffezheim built - and thus created the basis for a symbiosis of racing tradition and luxurious casino flair that still exists today. The famous casino on the Oos and the excitement of the
racecourse share the same spirit: elegance, thrills and a special experience for guests from all over the world.
The "Golden Whip" has been crafted by renowned jeweler Leicht from Pforzheim since 2023. The detailed work combines the highest level of goldsmithing with symbolic power: it stands for precision, grace and solidarity with the region. The trophy will be on display at the Casino Baden-Baden until race day on August 31 and presented exclusively to guests - a foretaste of the sporting highlight of the Big Week.
The casino's Patron's Day on August 31 is not just a major sporting event,
but also a social meeting place for personalities from politics, business, culture and society. When the field lines up in Iffezheim for the race for the "Golden Whip", sporting excitement is once again combined with the unmistakable elegance for which the casino and racecourse are equally synonymous.
