Top finale with star gallopers in the Grand Prix of Tattersalls
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, May 30, 2025 (MH) - It will be a top finale on Sunday at the Spring Meeting 2025 at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim: Baden Galopp presents the summit meeting of the four-legged stars in the Grand Prix of Tattersalls (Group II, €70,000, 2,200 m), which is under the patronage of one of the world's largest auction houses from Ireland. The search is on for the successor to last year's winner Fantastic Moon, who won the race held as the WETTSTAR.de Grand Prix in Cologne after the race day in Iffezheim had to be canceled due to torrential rain. Danedream, the German wonder mare, had secured this race in 2012.
Wilko with a lot of confidence
Stall Helena's Wilko (T. Hammer-Hansen) should enjoy a lot of confidence in a strong field of ten. The stallion by Stall Helena from Henk Grewe's top Cologne stable has just won a Listed race at Hoppegarten in great style. He still has a score to settle in Iffezheim after finishing a close second in the 2024 Japan Racing Association Derby Trial.
Dual leadership for Ittlingen Stud Farm
Ittlingen Stud has two aces in its line-up with Lordano (L. Wolff) and Narrativo (A. de Vries). The former is a seasoned Grand Prix horse who, among other things, finished second last year. Narrativo won the Union-Rennen in Cologne in 2024 and was considered the Derby favorite, but the course of the race threw a spanner in the works. His third place here in the WETTSTAR.de - Grosser Preis von Baden 2024 was strong.
Quest the Moon phenomenon
Even at the ripe old age of nine, Stall Salzburg's Quest the Moon (R. Piechulek) has not forgotten a thing. He won this race in 2020 and went on to win the WETTSTAR.de - Preis der Deutschen Einheit in Berlin-Hoppegarten in 2024. But there are also highly interesting candidates in the rest of the field, such as the Englishman Certain Lad (G. Bass) or Cold Heart (M. Seidl), a former Brazilian Derby winner.
Sprint greats in the Casino Baden Baden Silver Whip
The program on the final Sunday in Iffezheim comprises ten races. The first start will be at 11:12 a.m., as the first four competitions will be broadcast to the 13,000 or so betting offices of the French betting multinational PMU. With 122 starters, the response from the stables is overwhelming.
The draw in the supporting program is the Casino Baden-Baden Silberne Peitsche (Listed race, €25,000, 1,200 m), which should once again be an important test for the Casino Baden-Baden Goldene Peitsche at the Grosse Woche. The up-and-coming three-year-old Ascot Royal (D. Liska) will challenge the former Casino Baden-Baden Goldene Peitsche winner Zerostress (M. Cadeddu) and other top short distance runners such as last year's winner Schützenzauber (S. Byrne). The Englishman Kylian (L. Morris) is likely to be a tough test for the German horses.
Attractive premiums on premium race day
In addition, there are several handicaps with particularly high prize money (all races on this premium race day are endowed with at least 15,000 euros) and a race for the Mehl-Mülhens-Stiftung - Nachwuchsförderpreis for talented young riders under the age of 30. An astonishing 18 candidates will line up in the starting boxes. A total of 238,000 euros in prize money is up for grabs on this day.
Lots of betting bangers
Of course, Sunday is also a festive day for all bettors. The four-race bet will be offered three times. 30,000 euros await as a payout in the 5th race (including a jackpot of 11,228.62 euros), as well as 10,000 euros each in the 3rd race and the 10th race. 10,000 euros are also up for grabs in the V4 bet in races 7 to 10.
