Star galloper from England challenges the German aces in the WETTSTAR.de - 154th Grand Prix of Baden
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, August 30, 2024 (MH) - The grand finale of the 2024 Grand Prix on Sunday at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim: The 154th WETTSTAR.de Grosser Preis von Baden (Group I, €300,000, 2,400 m), once again under the patronage of Germany's most important horse betting broker, marks the end of the most important meeting of the year under the direction of Baden Galopp. The list of winners of this top event also includes two winners of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, the global event at the beginning of October in Paris-Longchamp, in the form of the wonder mare Danedream and Torquator Tasso.
Live broadcast to Hong Kong & betting in the World Pool
Speaking of global - the WETTSTAR.de - 154th Grand Prix of Baden is part of the World Pool as it was in 2023 (as well as four other races this time) and will once again be broadcast live to Hong Kong! Races 5 to 8 can be bet on from all over the world.
The 154th WETTSTAR.de Grand Prix of Baden is part of the so-called World Pool for the second time in its history. Only the best races in the world are made accessible to an audience of millions all over the world in this way. This association of the biggest racing nations was initiated by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, which has set itself the goal of increasing the range of bets on offer and thus making the odds ever more attractive. You could also say that the world is betting on Baden-Baden, and every single visitor can look forward to previously unattainable pool sizes. Another enormous advantage of the World Pool: The totalizator deductions of the Hong Kong Jockey Club are predominantly lower and differ from those of the German racing clubs. On offer are win, place, place twin, double and treble bets with attractive odds for customers. Baden Galopp therefore does not offer its own pool for these races - all turnover is transferred to Hong Kong.
A line-up of six horses will move into the starting boxes when the successor to the Frenchman Zagrey is sought. Once again, a strong guest will do the honors - the Englishman Dubai Honour (T. Marquand). This gelding has winnings of over 3.9 million euros and even won at the highest level in Australia.
The German horses have nothing to hide either. Liberty Racing's Fantastic Moon (R. Piechulek) is the winner of the 2023 Derby, who also impressed recently when finishing second in the Dallmayr Grand Prix. Narrativo (B. Murzabayev), competing for Gestüt Ittlingen, brings a strong honorary rank from the Westminster Grand Prix of Berlin. Spanish Eyes (T. Hammer-Hansen) from Karlshofen was second in the Henkel - Preis der Diana and was nominated for this race. And Mr Hollywood (L. Wolff) only just missed out on victory twelve months ago. Tünnes (A. Starke) should find his way back to his best form.
Classy milers and top Arabians
Of course, the supporting program on the final Sunday is also exquisite. Twelve races will be held, with the first start at 11:15 am. PMU will broadcast numerous races to France. With the 91st Brunner - Oettingen Rennen (Group II, 70,000 euros, 1,600 m) there will be a second top event.
There are several three-year-olds in the field of the classy miler to look forward to. Geography (B. Murzabayev) left several competitors behind in the Fritz Henkel Prize in Düsseldorf. Penalty (T. Hammer-Hansen) won the Grand Prix of the Economy in Dortmund at the penultimate start. And with the Frenchman Elamaz (R. Piechulek), a serial winner from France will start.
The President of the United Arab Emirates Cup (Group II, €40,000, 1,600 m) is all about group honors for Arabian thoroughbreds. A number of guests will also be taking part here.
Of course, there are also some betting attractions for the final. 10,000 euros are guaranteed to be paid out in each of the four bets on the 3rd and 11th races. Another 10,000 euros are up for grabs in the V4 bet in races 9 to 12.
