PRESS RELEASE
Spring Meeting from May 30 - June 02, 2024 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
Will Iffezheim see the derby winner again?
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, May 29, 2024 (MH) - Five weeks before the most important gallop race of the year on July 7 in Hamburg, will the Baden-Baden-Iffezheim racecourse once again see a Derby winner? In 2023, none other than Fantastic Moon, the later winner of the Blue Riband, triumphed in the Japan Racing Association Derby Trial. These mighty footsteps will be followed on Saturday, 1 June, when this important test will be held again on the second day of the spring meeting under the patronage of one of the world's leading racing organizations.
Wilko (L. Wolff), prepared by Henk Grewe in Cologne, should enjoy a lot of confidence in the Group III test over 2,000 meters with prize money of 55,000 euros. In his impressive success in the WETTSTAR.de - Bavarian Classic in Munich, the stallion confidently left his opponents behind and showed a lot of class. The stallion is owned by Rolf Brunner's Helena Stable, which has been successful in racing for decades. New Emerald (A. Starke), who finished second in the Dr. Busch Memorial in Krefeld, is also highly regarded.
Two hopes from Iffezheim
The Iffezheim training center is represented in the eight-strong field by Fabian Xaver Weißmeier's newcomer Geminiano (B. Ganbat), who only recently found his way to the Baden racing village, and Gerald Geisler's Tuppes (A. de Vries). The French jockey Augustin Madamet will travel for the ride on Columbus, who is co-owned by Gregor Baum but trained in the neighboring country.
Diana sends her regards
Of course, the supporting program also has a lot to offer. Within the eight races (first start is at 1:30 pm), there will be another groundbreaking test, albeit for three-year-old mares: Auction house Tattersalls is the partner of the Tattersalls Diana Trial (Listed race, €25,000, 1,800 m) for the second time after 2023, which serves as a warm-up for the Henkel - Preis der Diana on August 04 in Düsseldorf. The Düsseldorf mare Liefland (A. Starke) made an astonishing debut on her home track when she rolled over the field after a weak start. The American team Valor subsequently acquired her and can now hope for their first top hit.
Two-year-old premiere and top handicap
The rest of the card is also very pleasing. The BBAG Badener Jugendpreis (10,000 euros, 1,000 m) is the premiere for the two-year-old youngsters. In addition, there is an equalizer I with a purse of 20,000 euros.
In the four-race bet, there are guaranteed payouts of 10,000 euros each in races 4 and 8. 10,000 euros can also be won in the V4 bet (in races 5 to 8).
