PRESS RELEASE
Big Week from August 24 - September 01, 2024 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
Already the second Iffezheim coup: Hot favorite Tiffany dominates the T. von Zastrow Mare Prize
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, August 31, 2024 (MH) - The hot favorite showed no weakness: Tiffany, the four-year-old Klasselady trained by Sir Mark Prescott in Newmarket/England, thrilled the 10,100 spectators as a 1.7:1 chance in midsummer temperatures on Saturday, the penultimate day of the Great Week 2024 at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim. With an impressive performance in the T. v. Zastrow Stutenpreis (Group II, €70,000, 2,400 m), the Farhh-daughter in the colors of the Elite Racing Club continued her winning streak after scoring in a Listed race in Hanover, in the Preis der Baden-Badener Hotellerie & Gastronomie here at the spring meeting and in a Group III test in Newcastle. In between, she had finished second in the Lancashire Oaks.
Ascot in sight
Tiffany's second Iffezheim coup under jockey Luke Morris was decided early on, although this time she had to tolerate Diamond Crown in front of her from the outer starting box. The rider from Brümmerhof set a very moderate pace, Tiffany was seen behind her, but the favorite moved to the front in the final stretch. Morris ordered her all the way to the outside, and there the top mare on Ladies Day clearly broke clear of the competition by one and three-quarter lengths. 40,000 euros was the reward for her owners. Tiffany's eleventh start was her seventh triumph. Her winnings now amount to 185,730 euros. There could be much more to come soon, as her team has its sights set on the Filly and Mare on Champions Day at Ascot in October.
Great game from Diamond Crown
Diamond Crown kept up her well-balanced pace and held on to second place against the giant outsider Spirit of Dreams, who delivered an excellent performance. Lmay, who also came from England, was unable to improve on her fourth place, which also applied to North Reliance and the other contenders.
VOICES:
Luke Morris (jockey of Tiffany): "We were in a good position straight away and I knew that as a Group III winner she had to have the best chance here. She broke clear very well at the end. I very much hope that she will stay in training next year."
Andreas Suborics (trainer of Diamond Crown): "Her form from the Diana was to be scratched, she was never in the race there. Today she confirmed that she is one of the best mares of her year in Germany. She was forced to go in front, the jockey made the best of the situation. Diamond Crown has a nomination in the Preis von Europa in Cologne. The Group III race in Hanover could also be a target."
Yasmin Almenräder (trainer of Spirit of Dreams): "I didn't understand why she was so high on the tote. She had often shown good performances. There was little speed in the race, but Anna van den Troost was able to calm her down nicely and produced a top finish. That's exactly what we had hoped for."
Christian Sprengel (Princess Badee's trainer): "She may have pulled something while jumping off, because she then never found her action."
