Spring Meeting, June 4–7, 2026, in Baden-Baden • Iffezheim:
Anticipation for the 2026 racing season following the entry deadline for the Tattersalls Grand Prix
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, April 15, 2026 (SB) – Preparations for the 2026 racing season at the Baden-Baden|Iffezheim racetrack are already in full swing. The turf season, comprising a total of ten race dates, kicks off with the three-day Spring Meeting from June 4 to 7.
With five days of racing from August 29 to September 6, the Grosse Woche will once again be a truly special highlight. Finally, the Sales & Racing Festival, featuring two race days on October 16 and 18, will bring this year’s events organized by Baden Galopp to a close. A total of approximately 2.9 million euros in race prizes, breeder bonuses, and transportation subsidies will be distributed to the participants—a sum that is unique in German horse racing and impressively underscores the racetrack’s status as the number one venue in the country.
For now, however, all attention is focused on the Spring Meeting: In addition to the three days of racing, which are packed with highlights, the BBAG Spring Auction will take place on Friday, June 5, starting at 11 a.m. Two-year-old horses will be presented at the breeze-up on Thursday, June 4, starting at 9:30 a.m.
Sports highlights galore
Three Group races and two Listed races will be the highlights of the 27 scheduled races over the three days of the event. Many top racehorses from Germany and abroad will be returning to the track. In addition, promising three-year-olds will compete on their way to the Derby in Hamburg.
Highlight of the meeting: Tattersalls Grand Prix
The grand finale of the Spring Meeting is the Tattersalls Grand Prix (Group II, €70,000, 2,200 m) on the final Sunday, June 6. The world-renowned auction house from Newmarket, England, has been a trusted partner of the Baden-Baden Racecourse for many years. Since last year, Tattersalls has taken on the patronage of the highlight of the Spring Meeting.
Twenty horses were entered in this race, which was won in 2025 by Lordano from Gestüt Ittlingen, who is once again on the preliminary entry list this year. Particularly spectacular is the entry of Hochkönig, last year’s Derby winner. He was originally scheduled to prove his class against the older horses in the 155th Wettstar.de Grosser Preis von Baden in 2025, but had to sit out the race due to injury. This makes it all the more exciting to see how the stallion has developed over the winter. In fact, the entry list includes every major name among older horses in Germany, supplemented by several interesting horses from abroad, such as Wemightakedlongway from Joseph O’Brian’s prominent Irish stable.
Stephan Buchner, managing partner of Baden Galopp: “We are very pleased with the entries for the Tattersalls Grand Prix and are already looking forward to an exciting and high-class spring meeting.”
Changes for the 2026 season
For the upcoming 2026 season, visitors can look forward to familiar favorites as well as a few new additions. For instance, the “Alte Iffezheimer Tribüne” shines in new splendor following its renovation. Seats are still included in the “standard” standing-room-only ticket and remain very popular. In addition, the restroom facilities have been extensively renovated. Another new feature is the 100-square-meter LED wall, which was tested last year during the Sales & Racing Festival but has now become a permanent fixture on race days. Finally, there is an important change for the Big Week: this year, the traditional Wednesday race day will be replaced by an After Work Race Day on Tuesday, September 1. Furthermore, Baden Galopp is pleased to welcome several new partners. These include Hapag Lloyd Cruises, the EPPLI auction house, the Schoch building cleaning company, and Nittel Jewelers.
Traditionally, the Spring Meeting kicks off with Family Day on June 4, which features numerous attractions for all ages, including the popular mascot race.
