Rue Michel Ange on the "road to success": 50,000 euro payday for Sarah Steinberg
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, August 31, 2025 (MH) - As of this Sunday, the second day of the 2025 Grand Prix Week at Baden-Baden-Iffezheim racecourse, the name Rue Michel Ange no longer just stands for a metro station in the French capital of Paris, but also for a new big earner among Germany's two-year-old fillies. The Harry Angel daughter, purchased for just €6,500 at the BBAG, landed a payday of €50,000 in the Iffezheim BBAG Auction Race 2025 (€102,500, 1,200 m).
Trainer Sarah Steinberg (Munich) and jockey Rene Piechulek scored another highlight after the terrific opening day, whereby the trainer is also the owner of Rue Michel Ange with the Auteuil Racing stable. After a great final performance, the 2.3:1 favorite narrowly fended off the outsider Coco Soleil and the Novice Da Cruz, who briefly looked on fire.
See you again in October?
"Rue Michel Ange had done a great job and impressed us right from the first start," reported the winning rider Rene Piechulek. Sarah Steinberg added: "I really like gray horses and bid spontaneously at the auction. We didn't have too high expectations for her debut, but her debut was top. She was even better today. She has a nomination for the auction race here in October, but we will take our time to decide what to do."
Coco Soleil improved enormously in second place. "She had learned a lot from her start in Munich. We would probably have won 100 meters further," said coach Michael Figge. Da Cruz made a strong debut in third place. "She just lacked a bit of routine," said coach Peter Schiergen. Michael Cadeddu came out of the saddle on Mon Coeur Allemand, who belongs to the Iffzer Eck stables, but remained uninjured.
Top result for Wöhler
The introductory 1-400 meter level II ended with a top result for trainer Andreas Wöhler, as the coach provided the two first-place finishers with Stall Mandarins Parini (7.3:1) and Savoya. Even a break since the beginning of May did not stop Parini from a start-finish coup after a longer break. Jockey Eduardo Pedroza: "He presented himself superbly. Parini always gave me a great feeling on the road."
Attractive odds in the four-way bet
In the first of three four-horse races (level IV, 2,400 m), Mademoiselle Rouge (6.9:1), ridden by Dr. Andreas Bolte and Michael Cadeddu, enjoyed a deserved success against local heroine Lounella, Attention Rocket and Albarola. 1,643.4:1 euros were paid out in the four-horse betting.
The next race with the four-horse bet, a 1,200 meter equalizer III, also had impressive odds after the Dutch guest Miami Heat (20.3:1, E. Turganaaly Uulu) surprised in the first start of the season ahead of Favorite Crime, Vive en foret and Invincible Royale. The odds here were 10,000:1. Esentur E. Turganaaly Uulu also took a run at the Mehl-Mülhens-Stiftung - Nachwuchsförderpreis (level IV, 1,800 m) with Toni Potters' Dana Delight (4.1:1)
And also in the 2,400 meter equalizer III the bettors of outsiders got their money's worth, because Iram (D. Liska), sent out by Roland Dzubasz from Hoppegarten, who was never embarrassed at the front, stood 17.2:1 euros at the totalizer.
Michaela Malacova showed a strong ride on Andreas Suborics' Pacharan (11:1) ahead of Ali and Royal Emerther in the 1,000 meter level II.
The betting turnover in the ten races on Sunday amounted to 665:808.79 euros.
Third race day on Wednesday
The Great Week will continue on Wednesday with ten races starting at 11:07 a.m. around the 152nd Renate and Albrecht Woeste - Future Race (Group III, 55,000 euros, 1,400 m).
