Press release
Big Week from August 30 - September 07, 2025 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
Miss Information makes big headlines in the WACKENHUT Fillies Cup
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, September 06, 2025 (MH) - It was a run the likes of which has hardly been seen in recent times: 16 mares contested the main race of the supporting program at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim on Ladies Day Saturday. And in the WACKENHUT Fillies Cup (Listed race, €25,000, 1,400 m), the guest mares completely dominated the scene.
Miss Information (5.5:1), trained by Andrew Balding for Susan Bunney and Norman Court Stud in Berkshire, put in a great race to catch up against the French rider Charibelle, who led from the outside box for a long time, the strong English rider Santa Savana and Temptable from France.
After two successes in high-paying handicaps, this meant the first triumph for Miss Information at her first start in a Black Type race, which was rewarded with a €15,000 premium.
"She didn't come out of the starting gate very well," reported jockey Callum Hutchinson. "But then she got better and better. Miss Information's score at Royal Ascot was already strong. The mare had improved significantly." The four-horse bet brought 3,182.7:1 euros.
Believe in Me with a brilliant final spurt
Trainer Sarah Weis is preparing 13 horses in Cologne. Her number one hope since this Saturday is likely to be the two-year-old mare Believe in Me (5:1), who provided her jockey Adrie de Vries with his first meeting win in the Etzean Winterkönigin Trial (10,000 euros, 1,400 m).
With a brilliant final spurt, the Intello daughter just managed to turn the tide against the favorite Deia's Delight and Ajaxania. However, she is hardly a candidate for the Carla Kellner Future Race - Prize of the Winter Queen at the Sales & Racing Festival: "She has no nomination, she is more a candidate for the Italian Winter Queen. She would have won more easily if she had run on a clear track earlier," said her owner Klaus Hofmann (Stall Lucky Owner).
Derby winner Nina Baltromei opened the day's racing with a success in a 1,200 meter handicap on Terratino Fire (10.5:1), prepared by Christian Wolters in the Netherlands, against Heaven's On Fire and Lady Miller.
Iffezheim direct hit
An Iffezheim winner was already clear long before the finish line: Santino Corleone (4.6:1), who Gerald Geisler looks after for Godfather Racing on site, came to a completely unchallenged success under Anna-Lena Weidler in the Amazonenreiten (equalization IV, 2,200 m) ahead of Storm and Conquest, Let him run free and Coriolan. The four-horse bet brought 385:1 euros.
She probably couldn't make a better debut than with a win: J'Adore L'Or (4.9:1) from Fährhof, who was engaged by Andreas Suborics for the first time, didn't show any weakness in her first appearance against Plush and King Karim.
Munich trainer Sarah Steinberg's Great Week festivities continued in a 3,200 meter level III, as Antinori (3.7:1) for owner Liberty Racing 2023 Kings kept pulling away at the front with Rene Piechulek against Itabuna and Dalipur.
Slovakian sensation
Slovakia is not only causing a sensation in soccer at the moment, but also in the races in Iffezheim. Just like the victory against the German national team, no one had expected the Slovakian mare Free Folie (27.3:1) to win in a 2,400 meter level II, but here too there was a sensation. Jockey Michal Abik saved a minimal lead on the inside from the Iffezheim representative Havoc and Tramina.
Top jockey Andrasch Starke was able to celebrate his first meeting success at the Große Woche in the final 1,400-meter level III, the second win of the day for trainer Peter Schiergen - with Ittlingen-bred Springtime (3.1:1), who comfortably stormed past Cyanea, Icatu and Willy Campbell in a 1,400-meter level III. Here, the four-furlong bet yielded 2,754.3:1 euros. The betting turnover in the nine races on Saturday amounted to 748,468.77 euros.
The class final on Sunday
The finale of the Great Week will take place on Sunday with ten races from 11:15 a.m. around the WETTSTAR.de - 155th Grand Prix of Baden (Group I, 300,000 euros, 2,400 m), the race of the year with elite horses from Germany and abroad in Iffezheim.
