Sales & Racing Festival from 14-16 October 2022 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
Coronation day for the two-year-old mares in the BBAG - Prize of the Winter Queen - two group races and many betting highlights on Sunday
Baden-Baden/Iffezheim, October 13, 2022 (MH). It is a title with high significance, because whoever wins here is considered a top hope for the first Classic of Mares in 2023: Baden Galopp presents Germany's most important race for two-year-old horse ladies, the Prize of the Winter Queen, sponsored for the first time by BBAG, on the closing Sunday of the Sales & Racing Festival at the Baden-Baden-Iffezheim racecourse.
Following an increase in the prize money by 50,000 euros to 155,000 euros, "equality" now reigns in this Group III test leading over 1,600 meters, as the endowment is exactly identical to its stallion counterpart, the Prize of the Winter Favorite in Cologne.
Gabriele Gaul's ulna with top chance
The search is on in the ten-strong line-up for the successor to Lizaid, who was successful in 2021 for trainer Peter Schiergen. A big payday has already been had by Elle (with Frenchman Mickael Forest), saddled by Iffezheim trainer Carmen Bocskai for Gabriele Gaul, wife of Baden Galopp majority shareholder Peter Gaul. The success in the BBAG auction race in Dortmund was strong. There, Kleeblatt (now with Englishman Cieran Fallon), whose trainer Henk Grewe has three candidates competing, finished second in her lifetime debut.
Quantanamera with impressive debut
Very impressive were the victories of Jürgen Sartori's Quantanamera (M. Seidl) in Dortmund and Gestüt Röttgen's Empore (A. Starke) in the Gestüt Etzean Winterkönigin Trial at the Great Week in Iffezheim. Tamarinde (B. Murzabayev) was defeated only by a strong Englishwoman in a Cologne List race and also registers first chances.
The Länd Trophy with top gallopers
But that's not all, because with The Länd Trophy (Group III, 55,000 euros, 2,400 m), which is in the tradition of the Baden-Württemberg Trophy, there is also a second group highlight.
Stable Nice's Nerium (B. Murzabayev) is a very interesting third in the St. Leger and should be the favorite in the eight-horse field. Eckhard Sauren's Only the Brave (Cieran Fallon) returns to the site of his greatest success in 2021 as defending champion. Lavello (E. Pedroza) and Well Disposed (A. Starke), both put up by Markus Klug, also already distinguished themselves at group level.
By late entry, the great up-and-comer Weston (M. Seidl), owned by the many-headed Liberty Racing 2020 syndicate, and Eckhard Sauren's second hope Wonderful Eagle (T. Hammer-Hansen), who just added a BBAG auction race in Hanover to his account, found their way into the race.
Extensive final program
Ten races make up the race card on the final day of the Sales & Racing Festival, including an Equalizer II over 2,200 meters and the final race to compete for the Mehl-Mülhens Foundation Young Horse Award. The first start will be at 1 p.m.
Who will crack the "7 wins!" jackpot?
Once again, the bettors will be in the thick of things: The new betting method "7 wins!" will be played out on Sunday for the second time overall and for the first time in Iffezheim. The aim is to predict seven winners in seven selected races (races 4 to 10). 85,554 euros are guaranteed as payout, including a jackpot of 34,859.34 euros, which includes the initial WETTSTAR.de jackpot of 7,777 euros.
Three foursomes on offer
Three four-way bets are offered: 20,000 euros are guaranteed as payout in the betting chance of the day. There are two times 10,000 euros in the other four-way bets. Here the first four horses are to be predicted in correct order.
Supporting program
Of course, there will also be numerous attractions for visitors besides the green turf. True to the motto "OktoberFESTival", there will once again be a one-hour free beer event with a keg tapping at the beer stand, to the musical accompaniment of the Munich Allstars from 12 noon.
In addition, a garland with 150 balloons hangs from the racetrack store. Inside 10 of them are valuable prizes that guests can release from their wrapping.
The most physically fit guests can prove their strength at the Hau-den-Lukas and for fashionably dressed visitors there is a photo opportunity with the Kugelblitz photo spot at the secretariat.
There you can also take part in the traditional costume competition, where numerous non-cash prizes also await the winners, including vouchers for a wellness stay.
So every visitor to the Sales & Racing Festival should get their money's worth. Tickets are available online at www.badengalopp.de or at the box office.
