Sales & Racing Festival from October 14-16, 2022 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
Coronation day for the two-year-old mares in the BBAG - Prize of the Winter Queen - two group races and many betting highlights on Sunday
Baden-Baden/Iffezheim, October 13, 2022 (MH). It's a title with great significance, because whoever wins here will be considered a top hope for the first classic for mares in 2023: On the final Sunday of the Sales & Racing Festival at Baden-Baden-Iffezheim racecourse, Baden Galopp presents Germany's most important race for two-year-old ladies, the Prize of the Winter Queen, sponsored for the first time by BBAG.
Following an increase in the prize money by 50,000 euros to 155,000 euros, this 1,600-meter Group III competition is now on an equal footing, as the prize money is exactly the same as its stallion counterpart, the Prize of the Winter Favorite in Cologne.
Gabriele Gaul's Elle with a top opportunity
The ten-strong line-up is looking for the successor to Lizaid, who will be successful for trainer Peter Schiergen in 2021. Elle (with French rider Mickael Forest), saddled by Iffezheim trainer Carmen Bocskai for Gabriele Gaul, the wife of Baden Galopp majority shareholder Peter Gaul, has already had a big payday. The success in the BBAG auction race in Dortmund was strong. There, Kleeblatt (now with the Englishman Cieran Fallon), whose trainer Henk Grewe has three candidates at the start, finished second in her lifetime debut.
Quantanamera with an impressive debut
The victories of Jürgen Sartori's Quantanamera (M. Seidl) in Dortmund and Gestüt Röttgen's Empore (A. Starke) in the Gestüt Etzean Winterkönigin Trial at the Grosse Woche in Iffezheim were very impressive. Tamarinde (B. Murzabayev) was only beaten by a strong Englishwoman in a Listed race in Cologne and has also announced her first chances.
The Länd Trophy with top gallopers
But that's not all, because with The Länd Trophy (Group III, 55,000 euros, 2,400 m), which is in the tradition of the Baden-Württemberg Trophy, a second group highlight awaits.
Stall Nizza's Nerium (B. Murzabayev) is very interesting as third in the St. Leger and is likely to be the favorite in the eight-strong field. Eckhard Sauren's Only the Brave (Cieran Fallon) returns to the scene of his greatest success in 2021 as defending champion. Markus Klug's Lavello (E. Pedroza) and Well Disposed (A. Starke) have also already distinguished themselves at group level.
The great up-and-comer Weston (M. Seidl), who belongs to the multi-headed syndicate Liberty Racing 2020, and Eckhard Sauren's second hope Wonderful Eagle (T. Hammer-Hansen), who had just won a BBAG auction race in Hanover, entered the race by late nomination.
Extensive final program
The race card on the final day of the Sales & Racing Festival comprises ten races, including a level II race over 2,200 meters and the final race for the competition for the Mehl-Mülhens Foundation's Young Talent Prize. The first start is at 1 pm.
Who will hit the "7 wins!" jackpot?
Once again, the bettors are in for a real treat: the new "7 wins!" bet type will be played out on Sunday for the second time overall and for the first time in Iffezheim. The aim is to predict seven winners in seven selected races (races 4 to 10). 85,554 euros are guaranteed as a payout, including a jackpot of 34,859.34 euros, which includes the initial WETTSTAR.de jackpot of 7,777 euros.
Three four-way bets on offer
Three four-way bets are on offer: 20,000 euros are guaranteed as a payout in the betting chance of the day. Two times 10,000 euros are available in the other four-way bets. Here, the first four horses must be predicted in the correct order.
Supporting program
Of course, there will also be numerous attractions for visitors in addition to the green turf. True to the motto "OktoberFESTival", there will once again be a one-hour free beer event with keg tapping at the beer stand from 12 noon, accompanied by music from the Munich Allstars.
There will also be a garland of 150 balloons hanging from the racecourse store. Ten of them contain valuable prizes that can be released from their envelopes by the guests.
The physically fittest guests can put their strength to the test at the Hau-den-Lukas and for fashionably dressed visitors there is a photo opportunity with the Kugelblitz photo spot at the secretariat.
There you can also take part in the traditional costume competition, in which numerous prizes await the winners, including vouchers for a spa stay.
So every visitor to the Sales & Racing Festival should get their money's worth. Tickets are available online at www.badengalopp.de or at the box office.
