PRESS RELEASE
Big Week from August 24 - September 01, 2024 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
International top-class athletes come to Ladies Day at the start of the final weekend of the Big Week
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, August 29, 2024 (MH) - The final weekend of the Great Week 2024 at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim kicks off with Ladies Day on Saturday, August 31: All of the day's highlights will focus on the ladies. Top event number one is the T. v. Zastrow Stutenpreis (Group II, €70,000, 2,400 m), a class for three-year-old and older mares, which is once again under the patronage of the von Zastrow family, a major sponsor of racing in Iffezheim.
The top favorite comes from Sir Mark Prescott's top English stable: Tiffany (L. Morris) is still well known in Iffezheim from her easy triumph in the Baden-Badener Hotellerie & Gastronomie Prize at the spring meeting. The four-year-old also shone twice afterwards, winning a group race in Newcastle and finishing a strong second in the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock. With Lmay (R. Havlin), another lady from the island will be making the trip.
Unusual success story
The German hopeful Princess Badee (M. Cadeddu) has an unusual success story. This is the first horse of Bastian Dietze, who is only 19 years old and scored an absolute bull's eye with her as group winner in Hamburg. Trainer Christian Sprengel from Hanover only prepares eleven horses, and of course this mare is his number one.
Iffezheim hope Sacaya
Iffezheim trainer Carmen Bocskai is hoping for Listed winner Sacaya (M. Forest) after finishing second in this race in 2023 with Kolossal. North Reliance (R. Piechulek) finished a strong third back then and is back in the field. Ex-jockey Maxim Pecheur, new trainer at Gestüt Röttgen since this season and already winner of the Henkel - Preis der Diana with Erle, relies on Narmada (M. Seidl) from Brümmerhof, who has not had to tolerate an opponent in front of her in two starts this year. After a highly successful weekend, Cologne trainer Andreas Suborics has a good chance here with Diamond Crown (H. Boutin), also for Gestüt Brümmerhof.
The Wackenhut Fillies Cup (Listed race, €25,000, 1,400 m) also aims to significantly increase the breeding value of mares. An international line-up will do the honors. Guests from England and France will challenge the German ladies. Panarea (A. Starke) from France, who is competing for Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed (Godolphin Stables), will be wearing particularly prominent colors.
Test for the winter queen
The BBAG Preis der Winterkönigin, the top race for two-year-old mares at the Sales & Racing Festival in October, is the long-term goal of the protagonists in the Gestüt Etzean Winterkönigin Trial (€10,000, 1,600 m).
Attractive races
The card on the penultimate day of the Big Week comprises nine races. The first start is at 13:30. Bettors will once again get their money's worth with two four-race bets. 10,000 euros each will be paid out in the 4th and 9th races. The V4 bet in races 6 to 9 also offers 10,000 euros.
