PRESS RELEASE
Sales & Racing Festival from October 18 - 20, 2024 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
Rain of money for the young gallopers in the Ferdinand Leisten Memorial
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, October 16, 2024 (MH) - A windfall for the owners of promising young gallopers on the first day of the Sales & Racing Festival on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim: With prize money of 200,000 euros, the Ferdinand Leisten-Memorial is the most valuable race of this year's two-day final meeting under the direction of Baden Galopp and also the highest-paying BBAG auction race.
This 1,400-meter test, which was surprisingly won by the Viking trained by Gerald Geisler in Iffezheim a year ago, commemorates the functionary, auctioneer, owner and breeder Ferdinand Leisten, who died in 1995.
A total of eleven two-year-old horses will be competing here this time. Dhitjari (B. Murzabayev), trained by Peter Schiergen in Cologne for the Ebbesloh stud of the von Schubert publishing family, could have the best prospects and only needs to repeat his second place from the Renate und Albrecht Woeste - Zukunfts-Rennen to finish right at the front here. There he briefly looked like the winner at the Great Week. The stallion also won the BBAG Auction Race in Cologne.
But the strong field is lined up with opponents, including the mare Gracia (H. Boutin), prepared by Andreas Suborics in Cologne, who is fondly remembered from her success in the Iffezheim BBAG Auction Race. Peter Schiergen even has another hot iron in the fire with Square Carnot (S. Vogt).
Top handicap and plenty of betting opportunities
Seven races will be held in Iffezheim on Friday. These include a €20,000 level I race over 1,800 meters. Iffezheim trainer Fabian Xaver Weißmeier is entering the in-form gelding Dhangadhi (M. Seidl) in this race. Such attractive prize money is also available for a level III race over 1,600 meters, a race in the T. v. Zastrow Handicap Series with particularly attractive prize money. The first start is at 13:15 (the course opens at 12 noon).
Of course, the offer for all bettors is also very appealing. There are two four-way bets, each with a guaranteed payout of 10,000 euros in the 3rd and 7th race. 10,000 euros are also on offer in the V4 bet in races 4 to 7.
Following the gallop races, the BBAG auction will start at 5 p.m. on the neighboring auction grounds. This will then continue on Saturday from 10 am.
Tickets are available for all areas via the website www.badengalopp.de
