Press release
Big Week from August 30 - September 07, 2025 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
This event is trend-setting - 152nd Renate and Albrecht Woeste - Future Race in Iffezheim
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, September 01, 2025 (MH) - It is a test with a trend-setting character. All doors are open to anyone who wins here: The 152nd Renate und Albrecht Woeste - Zukunfts-Rennen (Group III, €55,000, 1,400 m) on Wednesday (September 3rd) under the patronage of the Honorary President of Deutscher Galopp and his wife is considered one of the most important events for two-year-old youngsters. Once again, it will be interesting to see who will be in the limelight on the third day of the Great Week at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim.
Who will succeed Santagada?
The search is on for the successor to the Park Wiedinger mare Santagada, who went on to win two more group races before failing to win the Henkel Prize of Diana. Horses from abroad have often played a decisive role in the history of the competition. The Englishman Commander's Intent (A. de Vries) is sure to be an enrichment in the eight-strong field. Advantage (M. Abik) is another youngster from Slovakia.
Andreas Wöhler's Gostam (E. Pedroza) made a huge impression with his success in Munich. Hella Sauer's Zuender (B. Marie) is still unbeaten in two appearances, having already impressed here in the BBAG Badener Jugendpreis. Ittlingen-bred Nitaro (A. Starke) lived up to high expectations on his debut and represents the quarters of successful Cologne trainer Peter Schiergen, who also produced the runner-up in 2024 with Dhitjari alongside the winner Santagada. His colleague Henk Grewe's youngsters, Voitton (L. Wolff) and Perito (T. Hammer-Hansen), the protagonists of the BBAG Auction Race in Cologne, are also in excellent form.
Early start due to France broadcast & top frame race
The supporting program on Wednesday is also more than impressive, with ten races on the card from 11:07 a.m. (several stages will also be broadcast to France).
Derby fourth Enzian with a tempting task
52,000 euros in prize money await in the prize of the BBAG Yearling Auction 2025 over 2,400 meters, which refers to the most important auction of gallopers on Friday, September 5th, in Iffezheim. Here, Iffezheim trainer Gerald Geisler is hoping for Bandida Estrellita (B. Flandrin) in the colors of El Sur Racing. The top favorite is the derby fourth Enzian (T. Hammer-Hansen).
A hit for the "coffee king"?
Three-year-olds and older fillies are heading for the Coolmore Stud Baden-Baden Cup Listed race, €25,000, 1,800 m). The Darboven racing stable of "coffee king" Albert Darboven seems to be well prepared with Koffi Kick (L. Wolff) in an international line-up.
Of course, bettors will also get their money's worth again. The four-horse bet will be played out three times - 10,000 euros are up for grabs in the 4th race (level IV, 2,800 m), the 6th race (level II, 1,800 m) and the 10th race (level IV, 1,400 m). There are also 10,000 euros to be won in the V4 bet in races 7 to 10.
