The favorite, Alleno, shines in the Tattersalls Grand Prix
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, June 7, 2026 (MH) – A dominant victory in front of 13,500 spectators in the most important race of the 2026 Spring Meeting on the final Sunday at the racetrack in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim: Gestüt Ittlingen’s Alleno, most recently successful in the Sauren Dachfonds Prize in Cologne, won the Tattersalls Grand Prix (Group II, €70,000, 2,200 m) for trainer Marcel Weiß in the colors of Manfred Ostermann’s Gestüt Ittlingen.
With jockey Sibylle Vogt riding as if unleashed and racing from one big moment to the next, Alleno triumphed as the 2.7-to-1 favorite in this top highlight, using his infamous late surge to finish three-quarters of a length ahead of Derby winner Hochkönig, who also put up a strong fight to the finish. The winner’s prize of 40,000 euros was awarded in this highlight event, sponsored by the English auction house, marking Alleno’s 13th start and fourth victory, which increased his total winnings to 270,966 euros.
Hochkönig also put in a strong performance
Hochkönig was significantly closer to Alleno this time than he was during his comeback in Cologne and also put in a first-rate performance to finish second. Wilko, who stayed close on the outside in third place, also ran an excellent race and rounded out the top three favorites. Delgardo failed to make a late move from an ideal position, as did Ami De Vega from Norway. Atoso set the pace early on but was just as quickly outpaced as Lifetimes. Lordano (illness) and Wintertraum had been scratched beforehand.

Sibylle Vogt (jockey of Alleno): “That was outstanding over a distance that’s at the lower end of his range. I had to give him a little nudge out of the starting gate to get into a good position. On the straight, I knew the gap was tight, but I knew he’d get through it. You can rely on Alleno one hundred percent. My thanks go to the entire team of Marcel Weiß.”
Marcel Weiß (Alleno’s trainer): “I was a little worried for a moment, but once he found some space, Alenno slipped through the gap perfectly. I’m really glad he had a good run at Mülheim. Lordano had an infection and wasn’t able to run. We’ll take our time discussing our next steps.”
Manfred Ostermann (owner of Alleno): “It was a very textbook finish and, objectively speaking, a fair result. I watched the race from the press box. Given how the race unfolded, I was naturally filled with excitement and joy.”
“Kiki” Trybuhl (assistant coach for Hochkönig): “He showed further improvement and was much closer to Alleno than he was in Cologne, especially since he had to carry an extra kilo. We’re very pleased.”
Peter Schiergen (trainer of Wilko and Lifetimes): “Wilko showed strong finishing speed and ran well after a solid race. For Lifetimes, it was a leap forward. Softer ground would have been better.”
Friedrich von Lenthe (co-owner of Delgardo): “The race went as planned. He showed a marked improvement, but the others were just a tad better.”
