Press release
Big Week from August 30 - September 07, 2025 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
The race for the most coveted honorary prize in Germany: 155th Casino Baden-Baden Golden Whip
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, August 29, 2025 (MH) - An honorary prize that does not exist a second time in Germany and is more popular than almost any other - the top sprint of the year at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim will thrill horse racing fans on Sunday, August 31, 2025, on day two of the Great Week. The 155th Casino Baden-Baden Golden Whip (Group III, 70,000 euros, 1,200 m), which is once again sponsored by the casino in the spa town, will attract national and international short-distance aces to compete for a gold-plated whip engraved with the names of all previous winners. The prize money has been significantly increased compared to previous years. The reward: a strong field of eleven with horses from England, France and Germany.
Crowd favorite Zerostress
Here, the role of crowd favorite should be firmly assigned - to Zerostress (M. Cadeddu), who Düsseldorf trainer Sascha Smrczek has brought back into top form at the age of nine for the owners of the ROM stable. In a thrilling final battle, the veteran secured the Hoppegarten Fliegerpreis against Schützenzauber (R. Piechulek), who deserved a triumph in Iffezheim after finishing second in the Renate and Albrecht Woeste - Zukunfts-Rennen 2023 and the Casino Baden-Baden Silberne Peitsche 2025 - behind the Englishman Kylian (L. Morris), who was also represented. However, Zerostress, who already won the Casino Baden-Baden Golden Whip in 2023 and caused exuberant scenes of jubilation for his owners on the winner's podium, is also likely to give his all again on his favorite track.
In addition to Kylian, who once again has a great chance of winning, other guests will put the home cracks to the test. Arabie (C. Lee) from Karl Burke's top English stable, who also produced the runner-up in the IDEE 155th German Derby with Convergent, and Wathnan Racing's The Strikin Viking (F. Bughenaim) look particularly interesting.
Big payday in the Iffezheim BBAG Auction Race 2025
An extensive program of ten races (the first start is at 11:14 a.m. due to the transmission of several races to the PMU betting offices in France) awaits visitors on the second day of the Big Week. There will be a big payday with prize money of 102,500 euros in the Iffezheim BBAG Auction Race 2025 over 1,200 meters for two-year-old fillies who were offered here as yearlings in the auction ring in 2024. Trainer Henk Grewe is considered a specialist for this type of competition and is hoping for the novice Righthere Rightnow (L. Wolff). Sarah Steinberg's Rue Michel Ange (R. Piechulek) has already been recommended. Iffezheim owners are also involved - the Am Iffzer Eck stables are hoping for Mon Coeur Allemand (M. Cadeddu).
Many betting offers
The bettors get their money's worth. Three four-horse bets are on offer on this day. 15,000 euros will be paid out in the 5th race (level III, 1,200 m), 10,000 euros each in the 3rd race (level IV, 2,400 m) and the 10th race (level IV, 1,800 m). 15,000 euros are up for grabs in the V4 bet in races 7 to 10.
