PRESS RELEASE
Sales & Racing Festival from October 18 - 20, 2024 in Baden-Baden - Iffezheim:
Carla Kellner Zukunftsrennen - Preis der Winterkönigin the final highlight for the young mares in Iffezheim
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, October 17, 2024 (MH) - Crowning finale to the season on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the racecourse in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim with a trend-setting top race: The Carla Kellner Zukunftsrennen - Preis der Winterkönigin (Group III, 155,000 euros, 1,600 m) as the most important test for two-year-old fillies will thrill racing fans at the finale. The class is supported by Rainer Kellner, owner of the Iffezheim stable of trainer Carmen Bocskai, and is named after his granddaughter Carla Kellner. Interesting fact: In addition to the prize money of 155,000 euros, the owners of the best-placed German horses will also receive a total of 53,000 euros.
One year after the victory of Schlenderhan's Shagara, ten promising young horse ladies will be competing who are likely to have a great future ahead of them. Goldaue (R. Piechulek), who is owned by the American Team Valor and Gary Barber and who excelled in the Winterkönigin Trial in Cologne, and Gestüt Brümmerhof's Quebec (M. Seidl), who made an impressive debut in Hanover, are particularly highly regarded.
Two guest mares from France are also taking part
The first victory of Bella Sinfonia (E. Pedroza) from Fährhof in Hoppegarten and Nicoreni (S. Vogt) from Ebbesloh here at the Grosse Woche were also convincing. With Ginger Ale (P. Bazire) and La Guapisima (A. de Vries), who competed at the highest level in the Prix Marcel Boussac on Arc day, two promising guest mares from France will also be traveling to Iffezheim.
Baden Galopp Herbst-Trophy the last group race of the year
But the other card presented by Baden Galopp before the winter break also has a lot to offer. With the Baden Galopp Herbst Trophy (Group III, 55,000 euros, 2,400 m), a second group race will be offered. There are several aces in the seven-strong line-up. The proven group crack Assistent (T. Hammer-Hansen) as well as the derby third Augustus (M. Abik) and the derby fourth Alleno (R. Piechulek) are three of the most prominent names.
Iffezheim trainer Gerald Geisler is relying on Tanami Starlet (S. Vogt), who recently won a BBAG auction race in Hanover for her owner El Sur Racing. In addition to Sibylle Vogt, Lilli-Marie Engels on Atoso and Nina Baltromei on Lion's Head will be riding a total of three Amazons in this class, which is certainly remarkable.
The program includes a total of nine races, the first start is at 1:30 pm (the course opens at 12 pm). In the final race for the Mehl-Mülhens-Stiftung - Nachwuchsförderpreis, riders up to the age of 30 can prove themselves. And then there is another round of the T. v. Zastrow Handicap Series with a particularly highly endowed level III (20,000 euros).
Betting highlights & giant fields
Of course, the last racing day of the year is teeming with betting highlights. Three four-way bets with guaranteed payouts of €10,000 each are on offer in races 3, 5 and 9. There is also a guaranteed €10,000 in the V4 bet in races 6 to 9. Some of the starting fields are very large, and attractive odds seem inevitable. A total of 105 horses will be at the start.
Extensive supporting program
Of course, there will also be numerous attractions for visitors in addition to the green turf. True to the motto "OktoberFESTival", there will once again be a free beer event with a keg tapping at the beer stand from 12.15 pm, accompanied by music from the Munich Allstars.
A garland of 200 balloons will also be hanging from the racecourse store. 111 of them contain various prizes that can be released from their envelopes by the guests.
At the Oktoberfest fun bag campaign, small surprises await all guests who have previously completed 3 hands-on stations and for fashionably dressed visitors there is a photo opportunity with the Kugelblitz photo spot at the secretariat.
There you can also take part in the traditional costume competition, where valuable prizes await the winners. For the first time, the best-dressed couple will also be honored by the jury.
So every visitor to the Sales & Racing Festival should get their money's worth. Tickets are available (at a discount) online at www.badengalopp.de or at the box office.
