48th Kronimus Baden Mile: The Gathering of the Mile Champions
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, June 2, 2026 (MH) – A first-rate start to the three-day 2026 Spring Meeting at the Baden-Baden-Iffezheim racetrack, organized by Baden Galopp: On Thursday (June 4, Corpus Christi), Germany’s premier racetrack kicks off the 2026 season, followed by two more top race days here on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7. On the race-free Friday, June 5, the BBAG Spring Auction takes center stage, which this year will be held exclusively online.
Approximately 627,000 euros in prize money (including breeder bonuses) will be awarded at the Spring Meeting. A total of 27 races are scheduled.
On opening day (June 4), the 48th Kronimus Badener Meile (Group III, €55,000, 1,600 m), sponsored by the Iffezheim-based Betonstein Group, stands out as a showdown among the mile specialists. Kronimus has been one of the most loyal partners of the races in Iffezheim for decades.
The field of six horses includes the successor to the French horse Short Final, who triumphed here a year ago. This marks a rematch of the Kalkmann Spring Mile from Düsseldorf. There, New Emerald (S. Vogt) from Marcel Weiß’s stable in Mülheim surprised everyone with a victory over Best Lightning—who unfortunately is not in the field this time—and Next Mine (T. Hammer-Hansen). Sir Tommy Cen (A. Lemaitre) is also a guest from France who has shown significant improvement.
A €35,000 feature race for fillies in the supporting program
Top-class four-year-old and older mares are set to compete in the Preis der Baden-Badener Hotellerie & Gastronomie (Listed race, €35,000, 2,200 m). Innora (T. Hammer-Hansen), runner-up in the 2025 Diana Stakes, is a horse of very high class. Lady Vivian (E. Greatrex) is even making the trip as a guest mare from Ralph Beckett’s top English stable. A strong field of eleven horses is gathering at the starting gate.
Great Betting Attractions
Of course, there will be plenty of attractions for all bettors right from the first day of racing. Nine races will be held on opening day. The first race is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. The gates open at 12:00 p.m. Three four-horse bets will be offered, one of which features a guaranteed payout of25,000 euros(including a jackpot of7,991.10 euros). In addition, there is the V4 bet, also with a guaranteed payout of25,000 euros(including a jackpot of9,171.75 euros).
Supporting program
But there’s plenty of action off the green turf as well, across the racetrack’s expansive grounds. The Franz Brewery will once again be offering free beer. In addition, a fun-filled program awaits all children in the Kids’ Zone, and of course the ever-popular mascot race, featuring a kids’ betting contest as a special attraction for spectators.
After the final race, the beach area will turn into a party zone. With support from our partner “die neue Welle,” a well-known DJ will really get the crowd going.
Riding like a jockey for once – it's now possible for everyone on "Miss Iffi," the electric training racehorse acquired by Baden Galopp with the support of the T. von Zastrow Foundation. "Miss Iffi" is in action every race day, waiting for young jockeys.
