Sales & Racing Festival, October 17–19, 2025, in Baden-Baden • Iffezheim:
200,000 euros - a real windfall at the start of the Sales & Racing Festival
Baden-Baden-Iffezheim, October 15, 2025 (MH) – The opening Friday of the Sales & Racing Festival at the horse racing track in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim will be a windfall: With prize money totaling 200,000 euros, the Ferdinand Leisten Memorial is not only Germany’s most valuable auction race organized by the BBAG, but also the highest-stakes race at the Sales & Racing Festival, which will mark the end of the season under the direction of Baden Galopp from Friday, October 17, through Sunday, October 19, 2025.
This race, run over a distance of more than 1,400 meters, honors Ferdinand Leisten, an official, auctioneer, owner, and breeder who passed away in 1995. A total of 14 two-year-old horses will compete in this race.
Nardos made an impression right from his debut
Right from his debut in Hanover, Nardos (T. Hammer-Hansen)—trained by Henk Grewe in Cologne for Eckhard Sauren—was considered the heavy favorite and performed like a future star. He was destined to play a key role here. His trainer also has Perito (L. Wolff) in the lineup—the runner-up in the BBAG Auction Race in Cologne, who subsequently finished seventh in the Renate and Albrecht Woeste Future Race at this track. Avyaan (E. Pedroza), prepared by Andreas Wöhler, secured a victory in a BBAG Auction Race in Dortmund. Iffezheim-based trainer Gerald Geisler is entering Endorphin (B. Flandrin) for the Kappellebuckl stable.
Strong international guests
But strong contenders from abroad are also set to compete. Bella Lyra (F. Marsh) from Richard Hughes’ top stable has already finished in the top ranks in Group races twice. Ullmann’s Askalon (R. Piechulek), owned by Philip Baron, is being sent by Joseph O’Brien from Ireland.
Eight races will be held on Friday in Iffezheim. The first race starts at 10:58 a.m., and the first four races will also be broadcast to approximately 13,000 betting outlets in France. A Class II race over 1,600 meters stands out in the supporting program.
Many betting options
Of course, the betting options are sure to please all types of bettors. That’s because two four-race parlays are being offered, each with a guaranteed payout of 10,000 euros in the 4th and 8th races. A prize of 10,000 euros is up for grabs in the V4 parlay for races 5 through 8.
Shortly after race day, the BBAG Fall Auction begins at 5:00 p.m. and continues on the race-free Saturday.
